Sweat The Small Stuff

by Sean Anderson on June 16, 2010

In this video from TED, Rory Sutherland gives examples of how seemingly small, relatively inexpensive changes can produce BIG results, and argues, as such, for the creation of a new job title in business and government organizations alike – the Chief Detail Officer.

Interesting viewpoint and suggestion to say the least, and I can say in my 2 years here at SAP BusinessObjects, that likewise small investments in software and process, can really produce big results. Not uncommon to see 5X+ first year hard ROI results on investments in things like data quality where even a minute 2% reduction in duplicates in a customer list can result in hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings.
